The Institutional Investor Institute program includes the following features:
- Annual Roundtables with institutional investors: In March members meet in roundtable discussion for l l/2 days with corporate plan sponsors from major institutions; in April with public plan sponsors; in June with endowment and foundation officers; and in October with investment consultants and institutional investors from each of the above constituencies. Small discussion groups, assigned seating at lunch or dinner with requested investors, and off-site activities provide significant time for networking.
- Annual Senior Delegates Roundtable: Held each January, this roundtable is reserved for senior executives with responsibility for sales and marketing of major U.S. asset management firms. You will join approximately 100 executives in an informal setting for three half days and one afternoon of activities to share views and practices on strategically important topics such as new product development, operational issues, business development and financial industry trends. Ample time is allocated for informal discussion among participants in breakout groups and during social activities.
- Annual Institutional Sales and Consultant Relations Compensation Survey: An annual study, which benchmarks sales compensation for budget planning, current and future plans for base salary, cash bonus and non-monetary compensation incentives. More than 40 different data sets are gathered, analyzed as a whole as well as by subset based on institutional assets under management. The research is conducted in association with Sextant Search Partners, an executive search firm specializing in the financial services market.
- Institutional Investor Surveys: During the year, each institutional investor market set – corporate pension plans, public pension plans, endowments and foundations – is surveyed regarding their risk strategy, asset allocation strategy among other key issues. These are benchmarked against previous year survey results.
- Annual Investment Consultants Survey: Consultants are surveyed once a year with regards to business models, relationships, services and fees related to the investor community.
- Money Management Questions: Periodically, mini-surveys are sent to asset managers to ascertain their views on a single topic. Recently posed questions include: client entertainment practices, customer relationship management systems, and alternative auditing practices.
- Investor Website and Member Website: Members will have access to the password-protected website available to institutional investors and consultants who participate in the Institutional Investor Institute Roundtables. They will be able to post approved research and/or white papers on topics of interest to the community. A password protected website is available for members. PowerPoints from recent investor roundtables, periodic reports from iisearches, a members’ database among other data and information will be included on the website.
- Ad Hoc Roundtables: Members will have priority access to ad hoc roundtables produced by Institutional Investor. In the past these have included: “New Dimensions in Retirement Plans” (focused defined contributions plans, hybrids and changes in defined contributions), the China Investment Management Summit and the Institutional Investor Sovereign Funds Symposium. An extra fee will be charged for attendance.
